Nurse Judy reveals challenges of living alone and navigating US systems

Nurse Judy has opened up about the challenges of navigating life in the United States on her own, describing the American system as complicated and frustrating. In a post shared on Saturday, September 12, 2026, Judy detailed her experience trying to handle errands and navigate the DMV while preparing to travel back home.
Speaking about her experience, Judy said living by herself has made it difficult to keep up with the different systems and responsibilities she has to deal with.
It is so difficult
“It is so difficult, especially when you are doing life by yourself in this country to keep up with the American system,” Judy said.
She admitted that doing everything alone has been particularly difficult for her.
“Me, to begin with, nilisha admit niko na problem of doing this by myself, for myself, and being alone is frustrating. It’s so difficult for me,” she said.
Judy said she was already feeling overwhelmed and frustrated as she tried to handle her responsibilities alone.
She explained that she had several errands to complete because she was preparing to travel back home.

“And imagine the interesting thing was yesterday I was supposed to go to the embassy because nilikuwa nimejua I only have yesterday to do all the errands because I’m going back home,” she said.
She then went to the DMV to handle some of the matters she needed to sort out.
“So tumefika DMV…. sina appointment. So I waited,” Judy said.
DMV experience
Judy said she was informed that she needed to complete everything before the office closed at 5 p.m., while she still had several errands to run.
She described trying to move between different tasks, including getting paperwork and handling matters before heading home.
“Aliniambia nimake sure nimemaliza kila kitu by five,” she recalled, explaining that she had to complete the process before the office closed.
Judy also spoke about an issue involving her identification documents. She said her ID card had been issued in Washington and that she had never changed it because it had never previously been a problem.
“I have never changed and I have never bothered, so it’s never been a problem,” she said.

She added that navigating such systems can be difficult because people do not always know what is required.
“Sometimes you do not know what is wrong or what is the law and all,” Judy said.
Begging
As the situation became more complicated, Judy said she found herself pleading with the person handling the matter.
“And I said, please. Please. Please. I am begging you. Please, I am begging you,” she said.
She also repeatedly mentioned her concern about getting everything done before the 5 pm deadline, while dealing with other challenges involving transport and her plans to travel.
Judy’s experience, she said, was a reminder of how overwhelming it can be to handle unfamiliar systems alone, particularly when one is trying to balance paperwork, errands, work and plans to travel home.
