Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has defended his frequent social media activity, saying his government position should not limit his personal life or what he shares online.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Mosiria said every person has a right to decide how they spend their free time, including what they choose to post on their social media platforms.

“You should not mistake me because I am working in government; you want me to focus purely on the work and live out my free life. I also have my social life. I’m entitled to what I post on my social media platform,” Mosiria said.

The county official, who has become a popular figure on social media through his public engagements and viral posts, said holding a government role does not mean he should abandon his social life or restrict his activities outside official duties.

Facing online criticism

Mosiria’s remarks come amid continued criticism over his online presence, with his posts regularly attracting reactions from Kenyans.

The county official has often found himself trending over videos and updates shared on his platforms, with some users questioning his content while others praise his visibility and direct engagement with residents.

Responding to critics, Mosiria questioned why some people focus only on content they believe works against him instead of highlighting those who support his work.

He said his critics have chosen to pick moments they believe portray him negatively while ignoring the positive feedback he receives from members of the public.

Support beyond online

Mosiria also received support from Iko Nini podcast host Mwafreeka, who came to his defence amid the criticism surrounding his social media activity.

Mwafreeka said that despite the backlash online, Mosiria continues to enjoy support from many residents who appreciate his work and public engagement.

He argued that conversations on social media do not always represent the views of people on the ground, noting that Mosiria remains popular among many Kenyans.

“Things are very different on the ground. This guy on the ground is loved kabisa,” Mwafreeka said while defending Mosiria.

Mosiria maintained that his online presence is part of his personal expression and should not be seen as conflicting with his government responsibilities.
