MP Didmus Barasa celebrates after earning PhD

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has celebrated earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration, thanking God and his family for supporting him through what he described as a long journey of late nights, sacrifice and resilience.
Barasa marked the milestone on Friday, August 28, 2026, during Murang’a University of Technology’s 10th Graduation Ceremony, where he was present alongside his partner.
He also shared photos from the graduation as he celebrated the completion of his doctoral studies.
Family behind journey
In a Facebook post, Barasa described the journey to earning his doctorate as one that required commitment and sacrifice.
“To God be the glory. Today I graduate with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Public Administration. It has been a long journey of late nights, sacrifice, resilience and grace,” he wrote.
Barasa singled out his wife for her support throughout the period of study.
He thanked her for her understanding, patience, and for holding the home together during those long 2:00 am nights of study.
In a separate message, he described her as his “steadfast companion” and thanked her for being his support system throughout the academic journey.
On X, Barasa shared a similar message, describing the doctorate as a major milestone rather than the end of his journey.
“Today, I celebrate earning my PhD in Public Administration—a journey defined by sacrifice, resilience, late nights, and grace. A milestone achieved, but the work continues,” he wrote.
He added that the doctorate was “a milestone, not the finish line.”
Thesis on Bungoma
Barasa has served as the UDA Member of Parliament for Kimilili Constituency since 2017.
His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Public Administration and Management from Mount Kenya University, as well as a graduate diploma in Project Management.
In June 2026, Barasa shared a letter stating that he had completed his fieldwork and defended his doctoral thesis titled ”Branding Strategies by County Governments on Service Delivery among Small and Medium Enterprises in Bungoma County, Kenya “.
The letter indicated that the degree would be conferred at a later 2026 graduation ceremony.
