Mercy Masika recalls moment Bishop Allan Kiuna wept during her first ministry at JCC

Gospel singer Mercy Masika has shared an emotional tribute in memory of the late Bishop Allan Kiuna, recalling the first time she ministered at Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) and the touching moment the renowned preacher broke down in tears after the church’s sound system failed during her performance.
In a post shared on Thursday, July 9, 2026, exactly two years after Bishop Kiuna’s death, Mercy reflected on the encounter, describing it as one of the defining moments that revealed the late preacher’s unwavering commitment to excellence in the work of God.
According to the award-winning gospel artiste, she was invited to minister at JCC for the first time in 2004. However, during her worship session, the church’s sound system developed technical problems, resulting in poor audio quality.
“In 2004, I went to JCC as a guest minister for the very first time. As I sang, the sound system began to fail and the audio was quite bad. When Bishop Kiuna came back on stage, he didn’t just correct the situation,” she wrote.
Rather than dismissing the incident, Mercy said Bishop Kiuna returned to the stage visibly emotional and openly wept as he addressed the church’s sound team.
She recalled that he challenged the team to always give their very best in serving God, a moment that left a lasting impression on her ministry.
“He literally cried tears, weeping openly. He looked at the sound team and said, “I want our sound team to give the best to God,” she added.

Witnessing the bishop’s tears, Mercy said she immediately recognised the depth of his passion for God’s house and silently admired his dedication.
Beyond that memorable incident, the singer revealed that she later sat under Bishop Kiuna’s ministry for many years, saying his sermons profoundly shaped her spiritual journey.
“In that moment, seeing his tears for the house of God, I whispered to myself, “What a man.” He never took the work of God casually,” she shared.
She described him as a shepherd who possessed a rare ability to connect with people regardless of where they were in life, adding that his messages consistently offered hope, encouragement and direction.
Mercy further praised the late preacher for his diligence and steadfast faith, saying he lived a life anchored in faith, hope and love while serving God wholeheartedly.
“I sat under Bishop Kiuna for many years, and his sermons deeply impacted my life. He had a rare shepherd’s heart; he would always find you exactly where you were,” she wrote.
She added that Bishop Kiuna’s commitment to excellence in ministry continues to inspire many believers and that his legacy will remain alive in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
“He was incredibly hardworking, a true Man of God who lived by faith, hope, and love. His legacy of excellence will live on in our hearts forever,” she added.

Untimely demise
Bishop Allan Kiuna died on July 9, 2024, at the age of 57 while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer.
He had publicly revealed that he was diagnosed with the illness in 2018 and often spoke about his journey of faith throughout the treatment.
Over the years, the ministry grew into one of Kenya’s largest Pentecostal churches, with branches across the country and beyond, while the late preacher became one of the most influential voices in the country’s evangelical movement.
