Kathy Kiuna recalls marrying Bishop Allan Kiuna when he had no money

Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) co-founder Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna has reflected on the early days of her marriage to her late husband, Bishop Allan Kiuna, saying he had no money when they got married.
She shared the story on Saturday, July 25, 2026, while speaking about faith and how her understanding of God shaped the choices she made. Kathy said she believed in looking beyond a person’s current situation.
“Today I want to tell you how I got here. Listen to me carefully: it is because I understood about a limitless God. Listen, I married a guy, listen to me carefully, I married a guy from Kariobangi. Kario-what? Kariobangi, who was from the slums,” Kathy Kiuna said.
She explained that her late husband came from humble beginnings and did not have wealth at the time they met. Kathy said that despite his situation, she believed there was more to his future than what people could see. She used their story to explain her message about faith and favour.
“The only thing he had were looks, nothing else. He did not have a coin in his pocket,” Kathy Kiuna said.
Faith and favour in marriage
Kathy said she later came to believe that women carry favour into their families. She explained that this belief changed how she looked at marriage and the role she could play in supporting her husband. According to her, favour became an important part of their journey together.
“But I came to realise something that women are the ones who carry to their loins: favour. Women carry favour. So guess what, I married a man who did not have coins, but he married favour,” Kathy Kiuna said.
She went on to reflect on how her late husband later became widely known. Kathy said his life changed over time and that many people looked up to him. She attributed that transformation to faith and the foundation they built together.
“In a short time, that man…he became a sign and a wonder; he became the person to emulate. He became the one everyone was looking at to see why?” Kathy Kiuna said.
Kathy concluded by saying she believed their marriage succeeded because of the values they shared. She said her late husband made the right choice in the woman he married, adding that her faith in God remained at the centre of their journey together.
“Because he did not marry a ‘mumu’. He married the woman who fears God,” Kathy Kiuna said.
