Kim Kardashian pays emotional tribute to late grandma on her 92nd birthday

American businesswoman and reality television star Kim Kardashian has remembered her late grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, with an emotional message on what would have been her 92nd birthday.
Kim shared the tribute on her Instagram page on Sunday, July 26, 2026, a little over a week after MJ passed away at the age of 91. In the post, she said the family had been going through her grandmother’s belongings, an experience that helped them learn more about her life.
“Happy Heavenly 92nd Birthday grandma! It’s only been a week but wow the amount of things I’ve learned about you this week from going through all of your stuff with mom has been beautiful! I thought I knew it all! Makes me respect you and love you more if that’s even possible. Today we celebrate you! I miss you like crazy and I love you endlessly my sweet grandma MJ,” Kim wrote.
Kim said discovering old belongings and memories with her mother, Kris Jenner, had given her a new appreciation for her grandmother. She said she believed she already knew everything about MJ, but the experience showed her another side of the woman she loved.
MJ died on July 16, 2026, at the age of 91. Her daughter, Kris Jenner, announced the news on social media, describing her mother as the heart of the Kardashian-Jenner family. The family did not disclose the cause of death.
“There are no words that could ever capture what she meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye. My mom was the heart of our family. She taught us how to love deeply, give generously and always put family first,” Kris said after announcing her mother’s death.
MJ became well known to millions of viewers through her appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and later on The Kardashians. Although she was not a regular cast member, she often appeared alongside Kris Jenner and her grandchildren. She was known for her warm personality and close relationship with the family.
Before becoming a familiar face on television, MJ worked as a businesswoman. She owned and operated a children’s clothing store in San Diego for many years. Members of the Kardashian-Jenner family have often credited her with encouraging them to work hard and pursue business opportunities.
Kim has previously spoken about the bond she shared with her grandmother. Shortly after MJ’s death, she posted another tribute in which she described her as one of the most important people in her life.
“My sweet Grandma MJ, my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin. You taught all of us the importance of family, and those values are something we’ll carry with us forever. You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman,” Kim said.
MJ is survived by her daughter, Kris Jenner; grandchildren including Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as several great-grandchildren.
