The family of late Kamba benga musician Solo Sita has announced that the celebrated singer will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, while unveiling the full programme that will see his body transported from Nairobi to his rural home for burial.

Speaking in South B on Saturday, July 11, 2026, Solo Sita’s brother confirmed that the musician’s body is currently preserved at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Mortuary, where it has remained since his death last week.

According to him, the family will collect the body from the mortuary early Wednesday morning before beginning the journey to Kaamu, Nzue Village, where the late musician will be buried.

“So Solo Sita’s body is currently at Kenyatta Hospital Mortuary. We will pick up his body for burial on Wednesday very early in the morning. After that, we will travel to Nzue Village, where he will be buried,” he said.

He further disclosed that the funeral procession will leave KNH Mortuary at 6:30 a.m., with the family expecting to arrive at their rural home at around 11:00 a.m.

“We will leave Kenyatta Hospital Mortuary at 6:30 in the morning so that by 11:00 a.m. we will be at home. Our home is in Kaamu, Nzue Village,” he added.

Even as preparations for the burial enter the final stages, the family appealed to well-wishers to continue supporting the funeral arrangements through financial contributions.

The family noted that fundraising efforts are still ongoing to ensure Solo Sita receives what they described as a befitting send-off.

“Let’s keep donating towards the burial, all family members and friends. We also have another burial committee in Mlolongo that is planning well so that we give Solo Sita a legendary burial,” his brother appealed.

The latest update comes as relatives, fellow musicians and fans continue mourning one of the most respected guitarists in Kamba benga music.

Solo Sita died on Friday, July 3, 2026, while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital after battling a prolonged illness.

Although the family has not publicly disclosed the exact condition he had been suffering from, the musician had struggled with recurring health complications for an extended period, leading to several hospital admissions.

His deteriorating health had prompted repeated fundraising campaigns by friends, fellow musicians and fans, who came together on multiple occasions to help settle his growing medical bills.

Among those who consistently championed his welfare was vernacular entertainment personality DJ Biado, who regularly updated supporters on the singer’s condition and mobilised financial assistance during his treatment.

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the Kamba entertainment fraternity held an emotional memorial service in Solo Sita’s honour at Kifaru Lounge in Nairobi’s South B area.

The memorial attracted musicians, media personalities and hundreds of fans who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the late benga star.

At the entrance of the venue, mourners were welcomed by a large memorial banner displaying Solo Sita’s portrait alongside details of his birth and death, creating an emotional atmosphere before guests entered the hall.

The evening featured heartfelt performances of some of Solo Sita’s best-known songs, with fellow musicians paying tribute to the guitarist whose distinctive style helped shape modern Kamba benga music.

Media personality Katumbi was among the notable attendees and kept fans updated throughout the memorial by sharing photos and videos from the event on Facebook.
