Gospel singer Edith Wairimu has announced the death of her beloved grandmother, Cucu Grace, just weeks after the family buried her father, Livingstone Mwaura Njeri, marking yet another heartbreaking loss for the gospel singer.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Edith Wairimu reflected on the painful season her family has been going through before bidding an emotional farewell to her grandmother, Cucu Grace.

“Rest in peace, Cucu Grace. Rest in Jesus, beautiful girl. We celebrate your life and salvation. We will miss you,” Edith wrote.

Although she did not disclose the circumstances surrounding her grandmother’s death or announce funeral arrangements, her message quickly attracted an outpouring of condolences from fans, friends and fellow gospel ministers, many praying for strength as she mourns another close family member.

Father’s death

The latest tragedy comes only weeks after Edith and her family laid her father, Livingstone Mwaura Njeri, to rest following his death on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Myer Kidney and Health Specialities Hospital after a prolonged illness.

At the time, the singer described her father as her greatest supporter and the person she always ran to, saying his death had left her heart shattered.

“Dear Daddy, Today, my heart breaks into a million pieces. My father… the one whom I would run to … My greatest supporter… My love… My heart. My heart breaks for you boys. You said you never get old; you will always be boys. You are my most handsome man; see how you still got it,” she wrote at the time.

She later revealed that he had battled illness for six years after doctors gave him only three months to live in 2020, adding that the family believed God had miraculously extended his life by another six years through prayer and faith.

“Dad fought for 6 years. 6 years of everything life could throw at us. 6 years of bouncing back every time! In 2020, he was told he had 3 months to live. Oh! We prayed! We fasted! We cried! And the God of Hezekiah added 6 more years to His life. I’m not saying the doctor was wrong,” she wrote.

His emotional burial was attended by hundreds of mourners, including family members, friends and members of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), where he faithfully served as a member of the Presbyterian Church Men’s Fellowship (PCMF).
