God surprised them: Wema Sepetu hits back at critics following son’s birth

Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu has fired back at critics following the birth of her son, Baby Ollie, saying those who doubted her have been left shocked by God’s plans for her life.

In a statement shared on her Instagram account on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Wema accused some online users of being overly negative and demanding proof of matters she believes have already been settled.

The actress added that many of her critics never anticipated the turn her life would take, adding that she was no longer interested in seeking their approval.

“Now listen, you haters. I don’t know which things…? I can’t continue to give you proof of something that, no matter what I do, you will remain negative about because I understand I have beaten you with something heavy. In short, you didn’t expect it to be like this… SURPRISE, haters,” Wema wrote.

“Therefore, continue thinking as you know because I have seen that if I continue with you, you will come, and I cut the development of my milk for free, and I made my child lack food because of your cockroaches.”

Additionally, she said that she was closing that chapter of her life, adding that what had happened could not be changed regardless of what her critics said or did.

“I am closing this chapter of proving something that no matter what you do, it has already happened,” she said.

Motherhood and blessings

She went on to describe her current situation as a blessing from God and urged critics to keep their opinions to themselves.

“God has favoured me, so you know that. Those are yours; remain with them. It’s none of my business… I have better things to do… The most important thing right now is my baby Ollie,” she added.

The actress further accused some social media users of acting as though they had authority over her life and destiny.

“The problem is that you pretended to be God’s people… God surprised them… Please leave me alone…!!! Goodness, goodness, goodness…!!! I DON’T WANT…!!! EBO…!!!” Wema wrote.

Social media break

Wema also announced that she would be taking a break from social media, saying her attention is now focused on her newborn son rather than online debates.

“I am going to break off social media; we will meet at the 40th of Baby Ollie,” she said.

Wema’s remarks come amid ongoing conversations on social media surrounding her personal life and the arrival of her son. While many fans have congratulated her and celebrated the new chapter in her life, others have continued to question and speculate about her journey.

Despite the criticism, the actress appears determined to focus on motherhood and enjoy time with her son, making it clear that she has no intention of continuing to engage with detractors online.

For now, Wema says Baby Ollie remains her top priority as she steps away from social media and embraces life as a mother.
