I wish you met my child: Wema Sepetu shares why she misses her late father

Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu has remembered her late father, sharing an emotional message about how much she wishes he could have met her son, Baby Ollie.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the actress said she continues to miss her father and believes he would have shared a close bond with her child.
Wema also pointed out the resemblance between her son and his grandfather, saying it reminded her even more of the man she lost.
“How I wish you were here, Daddy. I miss you deeply. How I wish you met Baby Ollie. If I see you and how you loved children, you would call him ‘PACHA’ because he looks so much like you that I’m scared,” Wema wrote.
She ended the message by describing her father as her hero and wishing him eternal rest. “Continue to rest easy, my hero. I love you immensely,” she added.
Wema’s journey to motherhood
The message comes months after Wema announced the arrival of her son, marking a major moment in her personal life.
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the actress shared a photo of a newborn wrapped in a sky-blue shawl and wearing blue socks. The image showed the baby’s small leg and quickly drew attention from fans who had followed her journey towards motherhood.
Wema later confirmed that the baby boy, Ollie, was hers and that he was born with Tanzanian singer Whozu.
His arrival came after years in which the actress had openly spoken about her struggles to conceive. Before giving birth, she had also shared that she had reached a point where she had accepted that motherhood might not happen for her.
The birth therefore became an important moment in Wema’s life, with the actress describing her son as a blessing from God.
Actress responds to critics
While celebrating her new chapter, Wema also faced comments from some social media users over her journey to motherhood. The actress made it clear that she did not want outside opinions to take away from the moment she was experiencing with her son.
“God has favoured me, so you know that. Those are yours; remain with them. It’s none of my business. I have better things to do. The most important thing right now is my baby Ollie,” she said.
She also criticised people who, in her view, acted as though they had control over her life and destiny. “The problem is that you pretended to be God’s people. God surprised them. Please leave me alone,” Wema wrote.
For Wema, motherhood has brought a different chapter after years of speaking publicly about her hopes of having a child.
