Georgina Mbira weighs in on Pascal Tokodi and Sagini Megane’s exchange over Kenyan film industry

Former TV host and actress Georgina Mbira has shared her thoughts on the ongoing exchange between actor Pascal Tokodi and film commentator Sagini Megane, also known as Kenyan Loser, over Kenya’s film industry.
The actress said she believes both men have raised valid points and urged people to trust in God.
“God knows I have so much to say about this industry I found myself in. Aaaaanyway. Kenyan Loser makes some valid points. Pascal Tokodi makes some valid points. Let’s all make a point to trust in the Lord,” Georgina Mbira said on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Her comments come after an exchange between Tokodi and Sagini over the repeated casting of the same actors in Kenyan productions. The discussion began after Sagini questioned why the same faces continue appearing in local films.
Debate over film casting
Sagini argued that viewers should not feel forced to support local productions simply because they are made in Kenya. He also named several actors, including Pascal Tokodi, Sarah Hassan, Brenda Wairimu, Catherine Kamau and Blessing Lung’aho, saying he was tired of seeing the same actors on screen.
Sagini’s remarks prompted a response from Tokodi. The award-winning actor defended the work that goes into making films and questioned Sagini’s position to dismiss the efforts of actors and filmmakers.
“I wake up in the morning, and I’m told I’ve been tagged. What’s wrong with you? You’re a loser. A Kenyan loser,” Pascal Tokodi said.
Tokodi also challenged Sagini over his criticism of projects created by other people. He explained that making films requires effort and questioned what Sagini had contributed to the industry before criticising those involved in it.
“So what? Other people’s projects are s***. But it’s their project. Where are you?” Pascal Tokodi said.
Mbira did not take either side completely in her response. Instead, she said both Sagini and Tokodi had made valid points during the discussion about the Kenyan film industry.
Her remarks added another voice to the conversation surrounding local productions and the repeated casting of familiar actors. While Sagini questioned the industry’s casting choices and Tokodi defended the work of filmmakers, Mbira said both perspectives had merit before encouraging everyone to place their trust in the Lord.
