Kenyan boxer Fidphil Castro has thanked fans, organisers and fellow fighters following the Vurugu boxing event, describing it as a gathering that brought sport and entertainment together.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Friday, July 10, 2026, Castro said the event gave boxers a chance to display their skills before fans while also creating a space for families and supporters to enjoy the night.

He praised media personality Oga Obinna and the organising team for putting together the event, saying the fighters were treated with fairness and respect. “Vurugu was more than just a boxing event; it was a celebration of sports, unity and entertainment,” Castro said.

“A huge thank you to Oga Obinna and the entire organising team for putting together such a professional, fair and unforgettable event,” Castro added.

A platform for fighters

Castro said the event created an opportunity for boxers to perform in front of an enthusiastic audience. According to him, every fighter was given room to show their ability, with the event maintaining fairness throughout the matches.

He also noted that the atmosphere inside the venue helped make the experience special for those who took part. “The atmosphere was electric, and every fighter was given a platform to showcase their talent with respect and fairness,” he said.

The boxer added that boxing events can play an important role in bringing together people from different backgrounds.

He said Vurugu attracted boxers, fans, families and supporters, all united by their interest in the sport. “What made Vurugu even more special was how it brought people together, boxers, fans, families and supporters from all walks of life under one roof,” Castro said.

Music added to the night

Beyond the boxing matches, the event also featured performances from Kenyan artistes Khaligraph Jones and Ruger. Castro said the musicians kept the crowd entertained and added to the mood of the night.

He praised the two performers for bringing music to the event, which helped combine the sporting action with live entertainment. “Big respect to the invited artists Khaligraph Jones and Ruger for keeping the crowd entertained and filling our hearts with incredible music throughout the night,” he said.

Castro also sent appreciation to the fans who attended, watched the fights and supported the boxers.

He said their presence and encouragement played a major part in making the event successful. “To every fan who showed up, watched, cheered and believed in us, thank you,” he said.

Castro ended his message by expressing hope that the success of the event will lead to more boxing and entertainment gatherings in the future.
