DJ Krowbar reveals why he quit secular music to play gospel

Gospel DJ and entertainer DJ Krowbar has explained why he left the secular music scene and chose to focus on gospel music.
The DJ said his decision was deeply connected to his faith and his desire to use music to influence listeners positively.
He explained that gospel music is a natural part of who he is and the message he wants to share through his work. Krowbar said music has power, while gospel music can leave people better than it found them.
“People often ask me why I chose this path. The truth is, playing gospel music is simply an overflow of who I am (in its simplest form),” DJ Krowbar said on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The DJ said his desire as a follower of Christ is to share the same sound that transformed and built him up. He explained that this is what continues to guide his choice to play gospel music and use his position to reach others.

Krowbar started DJing at the age of 18 and initially played secular music. He said his journey changed after a conversation with his mother, who made him think about the kind of influence he had while playing at clubs.
A conversation that changed his path
Krowbar recalled that his mother asked him to picture himself standing before a crowd at a club and leading them in the wrong direction. He said her words deeply affected him and changed how he looked at his work as a DJ.
“Imagine the crowd in front of you at the club, and imagine you are the one leading them straight to hell,” DJ Krowbar recalled his mother telling him.

The DJ said the picture his mother created in his mind had a lasting effect on him. He explained that even today, he still remembers the impact of that conversation and the message she gave him.
“That picture shook me to my core and honestly, it still stays with me today,” DJ Krowbar said.
Krowbar said his mother then encouraged him to use his position to lead people towards God’s Kingdom instead. He explained that the advice became an important part of his decision to leave secular music and focus on gospel.
The DJ said the same calling continues to guide him whenever he gets behind the decks. He explained that his work is not only about playing music but also about pointing people towards the place he believes they should be.
