Catherine Wambugu clarifies how families left behind by her deceased employees will be supported

Agripreneur Catherine Wambugu has announced plans to establish a committee to coordinate support for the families of her two employees, Dominic and Terry, who died following a tragic road accident earlier this month.
Speaking in a video shared on her TikTok on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Catherine shared that the initiative is expected to focus particularly on the spouses and young children left behind, as the families begin adjusting to life after the sudden loss.
“Now our focus is on how the families Terry and Dominic left behind will move forward. They were both young; Dominic was about 31, and Terry was 35, and they have spouses and very young children,” she stated.
She also acknowledged a well-wisher by the name Timothy had already committed to supporting one of the children, describing it as a sign of goodwill.
“I also want to appreciate a man who called me this morning to ask what plans I have for the children. I told him that I am planning to form a committee that will help determine how the families can be supported. Additionally, I want to thank Timothy for vowing to support one of the children left behind by my employees’ young families,” she shared.

Dominic was buried in Nyeri, while Terry was buried in Murang’a County on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in a sombre send-off attended by family, friends, colleagues and members of the local community.
Wambugu confirmed that the burial processes have now been completed, expressing gratitude that they were able to travel across counties to give both employees a dignified farewell.
“My name is Catherine Wambugu, the ambassador of Wambugu Apples. I want to issue an update and say that we are now done with everything and have laid Terry and Dominic to rest. We thank God so far because we were able to travel all the way to Nyeri for Dominic’s burial and to Murang’a for Terry’s burial,” she said.
She further shared that her recovery is progressing well after sustaining injuries in the crash, noting that the stitches on her face have been removed and that the pain she had been experiencing is easing.
“I also want to share that I am doing well. The stitches on my face have been removed, and the pain I was experiencing on my sides is healing well. I truly thank God for the miracle of being alive and for giving us the strength to go through this difficult period,” she said.

Wambugu expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received since the accident, thanking those who visited her in hospital, attended the burials, offered financial assistance and continued to keep the affected families in their prayers.
She described the experience as humbling and credited faith for giving her the strength to endure the difficult period.
“I honestly do not know how much I can thank everyone. I want to express my deep gratitude to all who prayed for us and offered financial support. I may never be able to thank the whole world enough, many people called, others came to the hospital while I was admitted, and many attended the burials. I am so humbled and grateful, and I believe only God can repay you for what you have done,” she said.
The renewed focus on supporting the bereaved families follows weeks of grief after the fatal crash that occurred on January 19, 2026, along the Nyeri–Nyahururu Highway.
The accident involved Wambugu’s Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and a Mitsubishi Canter lorry in a head-on collision that left multiple people dead.
Wambugu survived the crash with facial injuries and bruises. However, her personal assistant, Terry, and her driver, Dominic, died from the impact. The driver of the lorry also lost his life.
