Catherine Wambugu issues update after being discharged from hospital
Agripreneur Catherine Wambugu has issued an update following her discharge from hospital after surviving a grisly road accident that claimed the lives of two of her employees and the driver of a Mitsubishi Canter lorry.
Speaking in a video shared on Facebook on Friday, January 23, 2026, Catherine revealed that she is now back home, physically recovering and feeling slightly stronger.
“Hello everyone, my name is Catherine Wambugu, speaking on behalf of Wambugu Apples, and while speaking, I am aware that I am not only addressing Kenyans but also our clients all over. I am well and back home, feeling a bit stronger,” she said.
However, she lamented that she remains deeply saddened by the tragic loss of her colleagues Dominic and Terry, who were integral to her business operations, and by the death of the lorry driver in the crash.
“But my heart is very heavy for my colleagues who were working with Wambugu Apples and for the driver who lost his life during the incident,” she lamented.

Catherine explained that she is currently with the families of Dominic and Terry as they plan for the funerals and memorial services.
She noted that the memorial for Dominic will take place today in Kamakis, while Terry’s memorial is scheduled for January 25 at Kingdom Builders Church along Thika Road.
She further added that arrangements are underway for the actual burial ceremonies and that support from friends, well-wishers, and the public is welcome to ensure that the families are able to give the two employees a dignified send-off.
“I am now at home with the families of my two colleagues, Dominic and Terry, who died in the crash, and we are planning their burials as well as the memorial services. Dominic’s memorial will be today in Kamakis, while Terry’s will be on January 25 at Kingdom Builders Church on Thika Road. We are also making arrangements for the burials, and we are appealing to anyone who can support the families to help. I am speaking on behalf of both families; we want to give these two a decent send-off,” she stated.
She elaborated that Dominic served as her driver, delivering goods across the country and maintaining connections with numerous clients, while Terry frequently acted on her behalf, liaising with clients and representing Wambugu Apples in various capacities.
Catherine emphasised that both employees had been vital to the day-to-day operations of her business, and their sudden deaths have left an irreplaceable void.
“Even small support will go a long way, as they both had families and this was such a sudden loss. Terry often spoke on my behalf with clients all over and handled calls for me, while Dominic was my driver and also delivered to many of our customers. The Bible says to join those who are mourning, and I invite everyone to stand with these families in this difficult time,” she stated.
