Cancer is advancing: Sam Kitiki shares emotional health update on his GIST battle

Popular celebrity barber Samuel Kilonzo, widely known as Sam Kitiki, has shared a deeply emotional update about his health.

Taking to his official Instagram account on Monday, February 16, 2026, Kitiki, who has been open about his battle with gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) cancer, revealed that it is now close to stage four.

Apart from his cancer advancing, the celebrity barber disclosed that he has lost a significant amount of weight.

He also admitted that the latest medical report was difficult to process.

“Today I want to speak from my heart. The recent news says my GIST cancer is now close to stage 4. I have also lost a significant amount of weight; I am now 33 kgs,” Kitiki revealed.

“These words are heavy. They are not easy to hear, and they are not easy to say.”

Strength and faith

Despite the devastating update, Kitiki maintained a tone of strength and faith, assuring his supporters that he is not giving up.

“But please hear this clearly: I am still here. I am still strong. And I am still fighting,” he said.

In addition, he acknowledged that while the disease may be progressing, his faith and determination remain firm.

“Cancer may be advancing, but so is my faith. So is my courage. So is my determination. I refuse to surrender to fear. I refuse to let today’s report define my tomorrow,” he added.

Kitiki described the journey as physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausting, admitting there are moments of weakness and pain.

However, he emphasised that hope, prayer and love continue to sustain him.

“This journey has tested me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. There are days of weakness. There are moments of pain. But there is also hope. There is prayer. There is love. And there is a fire inside me that refuses to go out,” Kitiki noted.

Choosing resilience over despair, Kitiki declared that he is determined to keep battling the illness with everything he has.

“I am choosing faith over fear.I am choosing strength over despair.I am choosing to fight — with everything I have,” he said.

Spiritual and financial support

The ailing fighter also appealed to well-wishers to continue standing with him during this difficult time.

“I ask you to continue praying for me. Continue standing with me. Your messages, your calls, your support ,they lift me on the days I feel low,” he appealed.

“They remind me that I am not walking this road alone.”

He further thanked those who have been part of his journey and urged continued prayers and support, adding that supporters who wish to assist have been encouraged to reach him through the provided number.
