Alex Mwakideu questions police judgment in handling Tuju’s health crisis
Radio host Alex Mwakideu has questioned the judgment of police officers in handling former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju during his arrest.
He raised concerns about how officers at Karen responded to Tuju’s condition. Mwakideu said the situation did not reflect proper understanding or care when dealing with someone who appeared unwell.
“Hivi najiuliza, ilikua ni nini ambacho wale maaafisa wa polisi wa Karen walikua wanataka kuona ndio wajue kweli Raphael Tuju, haskii vizuri,” Alex Mwakideu asked on Wednesday, march 25, 2026.

He went on to question what proof officers needed to believe Tuju required help. Mwakideu explained that the response raised serious questions about how such situations are handled.
“What did the police officer want to see to believe that actually Raphael Tuju needs assistance akiwa amelemewa?” he added.
Mwakideu also questioned whether existing laws guide how sick individuals should be treated during police action. He said the incident pointed to a possible gap in how rules are applied on the ground.
“Na nauliza, kwani sheria za nchi ipo? Na kama zipo, zinasema aje wakati mgonjwa…,” Alex Mwakideu said.

Milele FM host Jacquey Nyaminde also spoke about the incident, expressing concern over how Tuju was treated. She explained that what she witnessed left her disturbed.
She said the events affected her deeply and made it hard for her to rest. Nyaminde explained that the manner in which Tuju was handled raised questions about the conduct of officers.

“I am still in shock, kulingana na mambo ambayo niliona jana, mimi sijalala vizuri. Nikiona vile alibebwa msobe msobe na maafisa wa polisi,” Jacquey Nyaminde said.
She added that the incident remained on her mind long after it happened. Nyaminde said the way Tuju was handled appeared rough and did not reflect care for someone in distress.
She explained that the situation made her reflect on how quickly power can shift. Nyaminde added that the incident raised concerns about how authorities treat individuals during critical moments.
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, while addressing the press from a medical facility where Tuju is receiving medical attention, also lamented that officers assigned to guard Tuju have resorted to eating food meant for patients at the facility.
“Sasa ya nini hapa taxpayers’ money keeping three policemen. Tunashukuru Doctor Gikonyo kwa sababu anawapatia hata lunch; wanakula ile chakula ya wagonjwa,” Kalonzo remarked.
