Media personality Adelle Onyango has raised concerns about the growing pressure people face to constantly achieve more, saying it often blinds them to the progress they have already made.

In an Instagram post on Monday, April 20, 2026, she noted that many individuals are caught in a cycle of comparison and expectation, where success is always defined by the next milestone rather than what has already been accomplished.

“We get so caught up in how much more we want to achieve… that we forget how far we’ve come,” she said.

According to her, this mindset creates a sense of “not enough,” even when clear growth has taken place in different areas of life.

Forgetting personal growth

Adelle pointed out that people often fail to recognise their own development because they are focused on what is still missing.

She noted that even small improvements, such as building confidence, changing habits, or achieving personal goals, are often ignored in the pursuit of bigger outcomes.

“Maybe you used to be so scared of posting your content, and now you’re posting it,” she said, highlighting how progress is often dismissed.

This, she added, leads to a situation where individuals overlook progress that would have once felt like a major breakthrough.

Culture of comparison

The media personality also highlighted how social media and modern lifestyle expectations contribute to this mindset.

She noted that constant exposure to curated success stories can make people feel behind, even when they are progressing at their own pace.

“It’s this energy that you’re not enough yet,” she said, referring to the pressure created by modern hustle culture.

In her view, this culture makes it harder for people to appreciate their journey without comparing it to others.

Adelle encouraged a shift in perspective, urging people to acknowledge how far they have come instead of only focusing on what remains ahead. She highlighted that many individuals are already living parts of the lives they once hoped for.

“Do not forget that you are currently living so many of your answered prayers,” she said.
