Adelle Onyango condemns click-driven media, says women are often left as casualties

Adelle Onyango has criticised click-driven media practices, saying women are often left as casualties when misinformation is amplified.
The media personality said media owners and journalists have a responsibility to follow media law and ethics when sharing information with their audiences. She said her own media network would not amplify misinformation or harmful opinions.
“As an owner of a new media network, I still have to practice media law and ethics. It was a mandatory course when I was doing my journalism degree. It would be unethical (and terribly harmful) of me to amplify misinformation,” Adelle Onyango said.
Onyango said disclaimers on media channels should not be used as an excuse to share information that could harm audiences. She explained that people speaking about health matters should seek the opinion of a doctor, while those discussing legal terms should involve a lawyer. She said proper preparation was important before recording content.

“For me, my network has a very clear mission, vision and VALUES! Correspondents all go through this during onboarding. We’re about to train more correspondents in Oct, and they will have to go through understanding our values, ethics, etc,” Adelle Onyango said.
Her comments came after MC Fullstop’s son, Andy Deh, faced backlash over remarks he made about emergency contraceptive pills, commonly known as P2, and endometriosis. Andy made the comments during an appearance on the Chizi Podcast while discussing stage 4 endometriosis, a condition that has been battled by radio presenter Natalie Githinji.
Andy said the issue should be discussed without bringing emotions into the matter. He pointed to P2 pills as the problem while making his claim about endometriosis. His remarks later drew a response from Eric Omondi, who called for him to be found.
“Nyinyi mnaanza kuingiza ma emotions. Let us deal with the problem. The problem ni ma P2,” Andy Deh said on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Onyango said amplifying misinformation can cause harm, especially to women. She criticised the focus on clicks and said such practices were unprofessional. She also warned that the issue could lead to more discussion about regulation, which she said could be difficult in the context of a corrupt regime before elections.
