Police recover stolen goods and bhang in Mombasa raid

In a major crackdown on criminal activity, police in Mombasa have recovered stolen property and seized illegal substances in separate operations, underscoring the importance of community collaboration and intelligence-led policing.

Earlier on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, police officers in Likoni, Mombasa County, acting on a tip-off from members of the public, conducted a raid on a house in the Soweto area, JCC zone. During the operation, officers recovered a range of items suspected to have been stolen in previous incidents. The recovered items included two television sets, a coffee maker, a laptop, gas cylinders, a jungle bag, and multiple identification cards.

Additionally, 38 rolls of a substance suspected to be cannabis (bhang) were seized at the scene. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the raid and are currently in custody, pending arraignment in court.

The National Police Service (NPS) commended members of the public for their vigilance and reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal networks through continued collaboration and timely information-sharing.

The Laikipia raid

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Laikipia County, police officers from Nanyuki Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding the Station (OCS), conducted a search operation on July 29, 2025, in Majengo Village, Laikipia East Sub-County.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects found in possession of a variety of items suspected to have been looted during recent protests. Recovered property included twenty mismatched single shoes, believed to have been stolen from a Bata shop, and seven packs of hair braids suspected to belong to Bestlady Cosmetics. Other items recovered included six pairs of socks, seven bulb holders, a sealing tape branded “Bestlady Cosmetics Ltd,” two sewing threads, and two computer power cables.

More significantly, officers also recovered a modified pressure machine, approximately 350 pieces of NSP kits, believed to have been looted from LifeCare Chemist, and assorted wheel spanners.
