Police intercept a car and seize litres of illicit brew in Uasin Gishu
Police in Uasin Gishu have arrested two persons of interest and recovered litres of illicit brew after intercepting their car.
In a statement on Saturday, November 22, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed the arrest.
How the two were netted
According to NPS, the two were netted following a well-choreographed operation staged by officers from Baharini Police Station. They were waylaid after the officers intercepted a vehicle they were using to ferry chang’aa in several jerrycans.

Upon inspection, they seized the 100 litres of the illicit brew.
“The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and are now in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The exhibits have been securely stored at the police facility,” NPS stated.

The security officers appreciated the public for helping in arresting the duo by sharing timely information about their movement.
“The National Police Service thanks the public for their timely and reliable information, which led to the successful operation and arrests.”

Earlier incident
The arrest came hours after police recovered 500 litres of Kangara and 20 litres of Chang’aa during a raid in Rachuonyo North Sub-County.

Police explained that the illegal alcohol was being produced for distribution and posed serious risks to the health and safety of the local community.
“Police in Rachuonyo North Sub-County have intensified their efforts to combat the production and distribution of illicit alcohol following a successful operation in the Kobuya East area. During the operation, officers from Kendu Bay Police Station raided a site in Nyakwere Village, where illicit liquor was being produced. They recovered 500 litres of Kangara and 20 litres of Chang’aa,” police stated.
In a separate incident, police also seized more than 4,000 litres of Kangara and 10 litres of Chang’aa during a targeted raid at an illegal brewing site in Highrise.
Brewing equipment was also recovered during the operation in the Nairobi Highrise estate.
