One nabbed with 7 rolls and 1 kg of bhang seeds in Bungoma

Police have nabbed one person of interest in Bungoma County after he was found in possession of cannabis and related paraphernalia during a security crackdown.
In a statement on August 23, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) revealed that police recovered 1 kilogram of cannabis seeds, seven rolls of bhang, rolling papers, and a homemade roller upon the arrest on August 22, 2025.
According to police reports, a multi-agency team comprising officers from Bumula Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) carried out an operation targeting illicit brews and drugs within Lunao Sub-Location, Quarry ‘A’ Village.
The person of interest was escorted to Bumula Police Station, where he is being processed before arraignment in court. The recovered exhibits were secured as evidence.
Further, the NPS lauded the coordinated efforts of security officers and the support of the public in the ongoing war against drugs and illicit brews.
“The National Police Service continues to achieve success in its relentless fight against the use of illicit brews and drugs across the country and commends the public and various governmental institutions for their continuous, unwavering support.”

Homa Bay
This comes a few days after police apprehended a key person of interest found in possession of at least 98 rolls of bhang in an ongoing crackdown on narcotics in the Rodi area of Homa Bay County.
According to NPS on Thursday, August 21, 2025, the person of interest was apprehended on Tuesday, August 20, 2025, during a routine patrol.
Further, the NPS revealed that the key person of interest was riding on a motorbike at the time of his apprehension when police spotted a suspicious package, hence flagging down the motorbike rider.
“In a crackdown on narcotics in Rodi, Homa Bay County, on August 20, 2025, National Police Officers from Rodi Police Station, while on patrol, flagged down a motorbike rider carrying a suspicious package,” NPS said.
Similarly, the police have noted that upon searching the package he was carrying, the officers discovered a stash of 98 large rolls of bhang. Likewise, the key person of interest is being held at the Rodi Police Station awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
“Upon searching the package, they discovered 98 large rolls of cannabis sativa. The suspect was arrested and is being held in custody at Rodi Police Station, awaiting processing and arraignment in court,” NPS said.
