DCI apprehend six people
Meanwhile, the apprehension on Thursday in Homa Bay came just a day after the Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau had nabbed six persons of interest believed to be behind a string of violent robberies targeting missionary camps in Kajiado and its environs.
In a statement on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that the gang is linked to a deadly raid on August 8, 2025, at the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai, Mashuuru Sub-County.
“Dressed in police jungle fatigues and wielding crude weapons, the assailants fatally injured a watchman during the raid. Investigators have since linked the group to similar violent robberies in Kimana, Mashuru, Wote, and other areas,” read the statement in part.
Further, the DCI revealed that the crackdown began on August 19, 2025, when officers arrested Muoki Mulee in Kitengela and Ambrose Mutuku near Machakos Junction.
Mutuku later led detectives to his Kitulu village home in Machakos County, where police recovered police fatigues believed to have been used in the raids, alongside Ksh49,000 in cash.
