Detectives in Mombasa have arrested two men believed to have defiled a 12-year-old orphan girl stranded at a bus station on her way to school.

Confirming the distasteful incident, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) noted that the first accused, Anthony Jakaa Muganda, had gone into hiding after committing the heinous act.

They detailed that Muganda had preyed on the young girl as she was waiting at a bus stop to board a vehicle to school.

The sleuths revealed that the accused approached the minor in pretense of offering her a ride to school before taking her to his home where he abused her.

Afterwards, Muganda threatened her ensuring she remained silent on the issue before dropping her back to the bus station.

“On what should have been an ordinary morning, a 12-year-old orphan stood at a bus stop, waiting to board a vehicle to school, an innocent child simply trying to navigate her young life. Then came Muganda, masquerading as a Good Samaritan, offering her a ride under the guise of kindness.

“But kindness was not his intent. In a horrifying betrayal of trust, he diverted from the path to her school and took her to his home, where he subjected her to unspeakable violations. He then threatened her, ensuring her silence, dropping her back at the bus stop, in her school uniform as if nothing had happened,” the statement shared by DCI reads in part.

In a dark twist of events, another man identified as Reginald Wamalwa spotted the minor stranded in shock and distress  at the bus station and offered to assist he, only to take advantage of her frail state.

He took her to his house and assaulted her before escorting her to the police station where he pretended to help in reporting the victim’s first assailant.

Upon seeing this, the young girl bravely disclosed that he too had assaulted her, prompting his immediate arrest. He was later arraigned before the Shanzu Law Courts.

Muganda who had gone into hiding, was found after an intensified manhunt was launched.

Detectives trailed him to his hideout in Nyanchwa, Kisii town where he was arrested and escorted back to Mombasa and arraigned before the Shanzu Law Courts.
