Court directs Samidoh to respond to petition of woman accusing him of rape
The Nairobi High Court has directed celebrated Mugithi artist Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh, to respond to a petition by a Kenyan-American woman, who has sued him over sexual assault, within 14 days.

The woman referred to as M.R.W. sued Samidoh, accusing him of raping her when he visited America for his music performances in November 2021.
In the matter that is before Justice Lawrence Mugambi, the Inspector General of Police (IG), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Attorney General (AG) and the Witness Protection Agency (WPA), listed as respondents, did not appear in court.
Lawyer Sunday Memba, representing the woman in the matter, informed the court that he served all the respondents (IG, DCI, AG, WPA) and the interested party (Samidoh) and filed an affidavit of service confirming service to all, but none has so far responded.
Lawyer Gikenye, representing the celebrated Mugithi artist appearing before Justice Mugambi, told the court that he did not file the responses, as he was waiting for important documents from America that are important in the matter.
However, lawyer Gikenye informed the court that they received the said documents on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and urged the court to grant him seven days to respond to the petition.
“There were documents, my lord, that we were expecting from the United States (US), which I received yesterday, and I request you give me seven days so that I can file my response,” lawyer Gikenye told the court.
Justice Lawrence Mugambi on Thursday, October 30, 2025, directed Samidoh to file his responses to the petition and application after it emerged that he had not yet filed responses as ordered by the court.
“The interested party (Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh), is granted 14 days to file a response to the petition and application; upon service, the petitioner files a rejoinder together with submissions to both the application and petition within 14 days,” Justice Mugambi directed.
On September 5, 2025, Justice Mugambi barred Samidoh, either by himself or through proxies, from reaching out to M.R.W. He also warned the artist against intimidating or harassing the petitioner in any way.
“That pending the hearing and determination of the instant application, an interim non-contact and non-interference order is hereby issued restraining the interested party (Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh), whether by himself, his agents, or assigns, from contacting, intimidating, harassing, or otherwise interfering with the petitioner or her witnesses save through lawful investigative or judicial processes,” Justice Mugambi ordered.
The High Court order came after the woman stated in her application that Samidoh had been manipulating and threatening her between 2021 and 2023.
“In one instance, when I recounted the rape, he insulted me, terming me a ‘35-year-old professional prostitute’ among other heartrending epithets. I have preserved the said messages and recordings,” M.R.W. states.
Further, Justice Mugambi granted the woman her request to have her identity sealed and the sealing of any filings disclosing her identity and redaction of personal identifiers in the public record.
He also directed that the proceedings be conducted in camera to safeguard her dignity and security.
“That pending the hearing and determination of this notice of motion application, the petition shall refer to the petitioner by initials M.R.W., and all documents disclosing her full identity shall be sealed, redacted, or otherwise restricted to the parties and the court,” Justice Mugambi ordered.
The court also ordered the IG and DCI to forthwith preserve, secure and forensically protect all documentary, digital and electronic materials relevant to the petitioner’s complaint, including the woman’s audio and messaging evidence.
M.R.W., in her petition, states that Samidoh lured her into a short-stay house in Overland Park, Kansas, and forced himself on her against her wishes despite her persistent resistance to the said act.
“On or about November 28, 2021, while Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, alias Samidoh, was in the United States for a music performance, he lured me into his Airbnb in Overland Park, Kansas, and raped me. I repeatedly refused and resisted, but he mocked my protestations, ignored my pleas, and, without my consent whatsoever, egregiously committed the sexual offence,” part of the court papers read.
The lady also reveals that after the incident, she filed a report with the Overland Park Police Department, Kansas, and a case was opened as Case No. 2023022021 under the classification of rape.
The lady states that she lodged a complaint on the same issue with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on June 12, 2025, but says that despite her efforts, the institution has failed to register, investigate, or advance her complaint.
In addition, she says that the DCI has equally failed to invoke the mutual legal assistance framework to obtain certified evidence from the United States.
The matter will be mentioned on March 17, 2026.
