Nairobi Member of County Assembly (MCA) representing Kileleshwa Ward people Robert Alai has denied having any social media account operating under his name.

The former blogger is in court after a celebrated media personality, Fred Machoka, took him to court, citing that Alai wrote defamatory statements about him on his Facebook account (Robert Alai).

Through a statement, MCA Alai asserts that he is not on Facebook or any other social media platform, either under his name or any pseudonym.

“I neither own nor operate any social media account, specifically a Facebook account under the name of Robert Alai, as the plaintiff (Fred Machoka) herein has claimed,” part of Alai’s statements read.

Further, he states that he has never defamed nor uttered any falsehoods about Machoka, citing that he has never heard about him nor does he know him.

“The defendant (Alai) has never met, seen or heard of the plaintiff (Machoka) at all; as such, he has no idea about his alleged standing and reputation in the society,” part of Alai’s statement read.

Notably, the controversial MCA in his defence papers notes that his name is Robert Alai Onyango and not the name presented as the defendant in the case, Robert Alai.

In addition, he states that he has not made any defamatory statements against Machoka either in public within Kileleshwa or in the County Hall within the city, which are his areas of work.

He asked the court to dismiss the case with costs, insisting there is no valid reason to drag him into the matter.

Further, he urges the court to dismiss the suit, arguing that it has no merit.

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the court heard that Machoka is open to an out-of-court settlement, but it has been difficult since Alai has vehemently disowned the Facebook account.

However, lawyer Danstan Omari, representing Machoka, told the court that his client is still open for the out-of-court settlement.

“You cannot negotiate with someone who says it’s not them. This seems to be a case of mistaken identity,” lawyer Omari told the court.
