8 persons of interest linked to robbery incidents nabbed

Detectives have arrested eight persons of interest believed to be part of a violent robbery syndicate that has been terrorising businesses across the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that the eight were nabbed in Mtito Andei, Makueni County.
“A well-coordinated operation by the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), supported by the DCI Headquarters Operations Team, has led to the arrest of eight persons of interest in Mtito Andei, Makueni County,” read the statement in part.
Furthermore, the Agency disclosed that for months, the gang had been on the radar of detectives, linked to a series of violent robberies and burglaries in Nairobi, Nakuru, and Mombasa.
“Their operations left behind a trail of loss and fear, with businesses suffering significant financial damage.”
Additionally, the DCI revealed that one of their most daring attacks happened on the night of August 22, 2025, when a group of between 25 and 30 armed men raided Century Mabati Ltd in Nakuru County.

Additionally, the DCI revealed that the gang, armed with crude weapons, looted steel coils, machinery, and even stole a tuk-tuk before disappearing.
Investigations have since established that the group was also behind other high-profile robberies, including a major break-in in Nyali, Mombasa.
Intelligence reports further revealed that the gang’s operations were coordinated from Nairobi’s Dandora, Kenol, and Kariobangi estates.
“A major breakthrough came when detectives intercepted a lorry, registration number KBK 616W/ZC 4758, loaded with goods stolen from the Nyali heist. The seizure disrupted the gang’s supply chain and provided vital evidence for the ongoing case.”
During the same operation, police also recovered a Toyota Porte, registration number KDP 805X, suspected to have been used as a getaway vehicle. Crude weapons and a Century Mabati-branded apron were also recovered.
The eight are currently in custody as investigations continue, with police expected to prefer multiple charges against them in the coming days.
