Wanja Nyarari disputes Pastor Kuria’s story of being denied access at Betty Bayo’s home

Social media personality Wanja Nyarari has broken her silence following viral claims by Pastor Paul Kuria that he was barred from delivering his condolence contribution to Betty Bayo’s widower, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash.

The allegations come just days after Wanja had to defend herself against another controversy, in which she was accused of slapping a YouTuber during the late singer’s burial.

Pastor Kuria, while speaking during an interview with a local YouTuber on Friday, November 21, 2025, shared a detailed account of his visit to Betty Bayo’s family home in Eden Park, claiming he was misled by organisers about Tash’s whereabouts and ultimately forced to leave without completing his condolence delivery.

“And you see, now people have been wondering why I don’t show up anymore to the burial meetings. I have not disappeared intentionally; I am just keeping to myself now. Before coming to this interview, I had gone to Betty’s home in Eden Park, and I did not feel the need to post about it. When I was there, the person organising things lied to me, saying that Tash was not in the house. However, a girl there informed me that Tash was inside. She even told me she would call him for me,” Kuria said.

According to Kuria, he had brought USD200 [approximately Ksh25,000] to support the mourning process but was unable to hand them over due to what he described as misinformation and obstruction during his visit.

“But the organiser came and lied, saying that Tash had left to organise mortuary matters. Suddenly, I saw Tash passing right there at the house, and he quickly went inside after being told that his manager had said he was not around.

I do not know why I was being barred from seeing Tash. Even the condolence money I had with me, I had to take back. I had brought USD 200 to them to mourn, but now I will just go and eat meat instead,” he added.

Wanja Nyarari, however, in a post on Facebook on the night of Saturday, November 22, 2025, firmly rejected the claims.

She clarified that she had no involvement in barring Pastor Kuria from seeing Tash and emphasised that any blockages he experienced must have been due to other individuals present at the home.

Huyu na story yake is lies, not me. He must have been blocked by another person,” she wrote.

Wanja explained that her presence at the residence on the eve of Thursday was solely as a guest to receive instructions for her role during the burial, and she had no authority to prevent access to any visitor.

“I only went there on the eve of Thursday as a guest to receive my instructions so Pastor Kuria aseme nani alimfukuza na dollar zake,” Wanja added.

Previous controversy

This latest dispute comes on the heels of another public incident during Betty Bayo’s burial, where Wanja was accused by YouTuber Cukura ya Nairobi of slapping him.

Responding to that, Wanja explained that her actions at the burial were part of a structured security operation designed to protect the family, particularly Sky Victor, Betty Bayo’s daughter, and her younger sibling.

“Meet Sky Victor 254, The Youngest Commanding Officer I’ve ever served under since I trained. The command came unexpectedly on the evening of Wednesday, 19:00HRS E.A.T., clear, firm and mission-focused. The Principal Family Liaison appointed by Tash 254 was Mr GK, the family Chairman, and Mr G, the logistic Liaison,” she wrote.

According to Wanja, she had been tasked with overseeing the family’s movements, maintaining privacy, and ensuring that the mourning process was carried out without disruption.

“I took my undertaking and assured my Youngest Commander, SKY, that execution will be… NO MATTER WHAT. She was bumper-to-bumper on every movement, issuing silent commands like a pro, and we executed with ZERO BREACH. There were 3 attempted breaches detected, intercepted, CONTAINED,” she wrote.
