Ruto speaks on Kware incident
Earlier, President William Ruto pledged that action would be taken against those responsible for the killings in Kware.
Speaking for the first time on the issue as more bodies are being discovered at Our Lady of Glory Kaptagat Girls High School in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Saturday, July 13, 2024, President Ruto announced that he has instructed the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable.
“In Nairobi, nearly nine bodies of Kenyans have been found, most of them young girls and the government is still investigating the circumstances. I have directed the police, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and those involved in homicide investigations to determine how these events occurred,” Ruto stated.
Adding;
“I want to assure Kenyans that those responsible for the deaths of our children in Kware will face severe consequences.”
President Ruto emphasized that such killings are a violation of the Kenyan constitution and fundamental human rights.
“We must take action because taking the life of any Kenyan is a crime under our constitution and goes against human rights principles,” he added.
He also promised that the government would ensure that those found guilty would face justice.
“Those charged with ensuring a comprehensive investigation into the incidents in Kware, where many Kenyans, including young girls, have lost their lives, must expedite this process. The truth must be uncovered, and those involved in these heinous acts must be punished, taken to court, and the law applied to its fullest extent,” Ruto vowed.
