Stevo Simple Boy to vie for MCA seat in Kibra

Sensational musician and content creator Stivo Simple Boy has announced plans to run for a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Nairobi’s Kibra constituency during the 2027 elections.
In a recent YouTube interview, the Freshi Barida singer shared that his decision to join politics is motivated by a desire to uplift the lives of young residents in Kibra.
He highlighted rampant unemployment and limited access to educational support as key issues he wants to tackle.
“There are so many young individuals in Kibra without employment or bursaries. Once I’m elected, we’ll focus on creating job opportunities and ensuring bursaries get to those who need them,” he said.
Kibra is divided into five wards including Sarang’ombe, Laini Saba, Makina, Lindi, and Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course but Stivo did not specify which one he intends to contest.
Grassroots

Stivo described his political bid as the beginning of a long journey in leadership.
“I see myself as a future leader. I’ll begin by serving at the grassroots level as an MCA in 2027 and grow from there,” he stated confidently.
He emphasised that politics doesn’t have to be dirty if led by individuals with genuine intentions.
Further, the artist did not shy away from criticising some current leaders, accusing them of failing to serve their constituents.
“Some of them are only in office to serve themselves. They’re not working for the people, they’re just eating and growing fat,” he remarked.
He also spoke highly of Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, whom he sees as a role model in leadership.
“Peter Salasya is a great example. He’s grounded and serves the people well,” Stivo added.
Stivo Simple Boy’s announcement marks a bold new chapter in his life. With plans to transition from entertainment to politics, he hopes to use his platform and influence to bring about meaningful change for the youth and residents of Kibra.
Simple Boy Foundation

This announcement comes a month after he launched the Simple Boy Foundation, an initiative aimed at promoting education, creating job opportunities, and tackling drug abuse.
In a video shared on his official Instagram page, Stevo explained that the foundation will also help primary and high school leavers access free short courses.
“Leo nimezindua Simple Boy Foundation na itakuwa inafocus kwa vitu tatu: elimu, mihadarati na kazi. Na kama wewe ni mwanafunzi umemaliza Class 8 ama Form Four, nimeshirikiana na shule kadhaa, mtakuwa mnapewa courses bure bila malipo,” he said.
He also urged schools that withhold students’ certificates due to unpaid fees to reconsider their stance.
