Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has announced his upcoming trip to Germany.
In a statement shared via his Instagram account on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the youthful legislator revealed that his trip will cover several cities, including Munich, Berlin, Dortmund, Hamburg, and Essen.
Salasya invited Kenyans living in these cities to meet with him during his two- to three-week stay.
“Germany, here I come. Munich, Berlin, Dortmund, Hamburg, and Essen. All Kenyans in those cities, I will be available for you for two or three weeks,” Salasya posted.
The MP added a lighthearted note about learning new languages before his travels, stating that he would start studying German to grasp some basic phrases. He also revealed his intent to learn Spanish as well.
“Kesho naanza kusoma Germany language at least I get some basics ya kuomba maji and some Spanish language,” he wrote.
The MP’s announcement follows his recent declaration of plans to reward himself with a European holiday once he completes building his dream house.
“Once I finish this building, I will give myself a holiday in Europe,” he had shared in an earlier post.
Salasya on boarding plane
In October 2024, the lawmaker reflected on his humble beginnings, sharing that he never imagined he would one day board a plane with the same ease as hopping onto a matatu.
He reminisced about his early days when his travel options were limited to the vibrant Eldoret Express. Back then, he would negotiate tirelessly to lower the fare from Ksh800 to Ksh650, just to save a bit of money. Some of those savings, he recalled, even went toward buying mukombero, a popular herbal root, in Majengo.
“I never knew in my life nitakuwa napanda ndege kama matatu… God is faithful when you work hard in everything,” Salasya said.
Known for his openness, Salasya has often shared his journey from living in extreme poverty to achieving success and recognition. Despite his wealth and fame, he has repeatedly assured his supporters and constituents that his character remains unchanged.
On Saturday, November 23, 2024, he took to Instagram to emphasize his commitment to staying grounded. In a heartfelt post, he shared a video of himself engaging with construction workers in his constituency, celebrating the opportunity to reconnect with his humble roots.
“Just landed in Mumias at home, and vijana are happy for me. Aki mimi pesa haijanibadilisha. I am still the same Petero they knew before. Content ya ku make them happy ndio imechange…youths are happy,” he wrote.
