Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has shared that he has made a major lifestyle change in his quest to find a wife.
The youthful legislator revealed that he was advised to quit alcohol if he was serious about finding a wife and settling down.
In a video shared on his Instagram, the lawmaker humorously explained that he has since traded alcoholic beverages for soft drinks and now ensures he gets home before nightfall.
“Niliambiwa nikitaka bibi niwache makali, sasa niko hapa napiga shots ya fanta mbio mbio giza isinipate inje,” Peter Salasya stated.
Salasya may have likely quit alcohol because, on December 3, 2024, he expressed his opinion that marijuana users are generally more peaceful compared to alcohol drinkers, whom he characterized as unruly.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, the legislator suggested that marijuana should be legalized while alcohol should be banned.
“People who take weed do not cause more problems than those taking alcohol. Weed can be legalised but alcohol can be banned. Watu wanakunywa pombe hupenda kelele sana than wa bangi,” Salasya said.
Unlucky in love
Salasya’s search for a life partner has been anything but straightforward. One of his most notable efforts was his attempt to court Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe. However, this pursuit took a dramatic turn when she expressed no interest, ending in a public exchange of insults on social media.
In 2022, the MP expressed his interest in content creator Azziad Nasenya, who declined his advances. In a past interview, Salasya discussed his single status, expressing a preference for a partner who combines ambition with a readiness for a traditional, rural lifestyle.
He criticized the urban living preference of many Nairobi women and shared that friends had suggested he consider professionals like teachers or bankers for a more balanced relationship.
“The Bible says submission is key. It’s Biblical, it’s spiritual; you should be submissive. It’s hard for me to find someone because girls nowadays want to stay in Nairobi, but I want someone who can live in the village. Someone advised me to get a teacher or banker—someone busy so they won’t bring me stress,” he noted.
Salasya also expressed his dislike of dating virgins, viewing it as a responsibility he would prefer to avoid.
“When I realise she is a virgin I will allow her to go have another man to break her virginity and come back to me. I hate to labour to break a woman for another man hehe…though sisi vienyeji we are better at breaking virgins than born town who are very weak on the bed,” he said.
