Pastor Kanyari issues apology over remarks about late De’Mathew’s family

Salvation Healing Ministries founder Prophet Victor Kanyari has issued a public apology following controversial remarks he made about the late musician John Ng’ang’a, popularly known as De’Mathew, and his family.
In a statement shared publicly on his official Facebook page on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Kanyari expressed regret for the comments and the video he posted, acknowledging that his words may have caused misunderstanding, discomfort, or offence.
“I, Prophet Victor Kanyari, wish to sincerely and unreservedly apologise for the statement I recently made and the video I published regarding the Late De’ Matthew, His Beloved Wife and Children,” Kanyari said.
“Upon reflection, I acknowledge that my words and the content shared were inappropriate and may have caused misunderstanding, discomfort, or offence to individuals, groups, and the public.”

Kanyari said that after reflecting and engaging with those affected, he realised the weight and impact of his statements. Consequently, he has withdrawn the statement and committed to removing the video from all platforms.
“I take full responsibility for my actions. It was never my intention to cause harm, disrespect, or mislead anyone. After listening, reflecting, and engaging with those affected, I have come to understand the weight and impact of my statement,” he added.
“Therefore, I officially withdraw the statement I made, and I will also withdraw and remove the video from all platforms. I assure the public that I remain committed to promoting respect, truth, and responsible communication in all my engagements moving forward.”
The self-proclaimed prophet humbly asked for forgiveness from everyone affected and said that he valued their trust, pledging to work diligently to restore it.
“I humbly ask for forgiveness from all those who were affected. I value your trust, and I will work diligently to rebuild it,” Kanyari asked for forgiveness.

Kanyari’s on late De’ Mathew’s family
While preaching at his church on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Kanyari lamented that people were trying to take his children following the death of his late ex-wife, Betty Bayo.
He questioned why no one expressed a similar interest in the children of other late Kikuyu musicians, such as De’Mathew.
Kanyari then went on to make unprintable remarks about the widow of the late De’Mathew.
