Moya David enrols in a gym after backlash about his weight
Celebrity dancer Moya David has finally yielded to pressure from fans and signed up for a gym programme after facing an online backlash over his weight.
The popular TikTok sensation shared a photo on Thursday, October 2, 2025, of himself in the gym as he began his fitness journey, making light of the criticism while acknowledging that fans had pushed him towards change.
“Day one at the gym, nobody told me losing belly fat is this hard,” he wrote.
The dancer further revealed that it was actually one of his fans who covered the cost of his gym membership, admitting that he had never realised how expensive keeping fit could be.
At the same time, Moya threw a playful jab at rapper Khaligraph Jones, sharing an old photo of the artiste before he built his muscular physique, and joking that now that Khaligraph has achieved a fit body, his gym has become private.
“ Anyway, thanks to one of my fans, Veronicah, who paid for my gym sessions, now I have no excuse. Khaligraph Jones also said his gym is private,” he wrote.

Moya’s post came barely a day after he had uploaded a dancing video on his social media pages, marking what many thought was his big comeback after months of stepping away from creating content.
However, instead of focusing on his much-anticipated return, fans flooded the comments section to react to his physical appearance, with many pointing out how noticeably bigger he looked during the period he had been off-camera.
The dancer, who rose to fame through his surprise performances that swiftly turned him into a household name, appeared in the video struggling to deliver his once effortless finesse moves because of his figure.
Reactions were mixed, with many urging him to take the advice to join a gym, while others speculated whether his changed appearance might be linked to an illness.
Here are some of the comments:
