Mosiria appeals for help to identify another elderly man he rescued from CBD

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has appealed to the public to help identify another elderly man he rescued from the streets of Nairobi.

Mosiria on Thursday, November 20, 2025, said he met the man a few months ago in the CBD, where he had been sleeping outside for about three days with no one to assist him.

According to Mosiria, the man appeared weak, sickly, and stranded, which pushed him to intervene.

“A few months ago, while in Nairobi CBD, I met this man who had been sleeping on the streets for about three days. He was weak and sickly and had no one to help him. I intervened, rescued him, and took him to Mbagathi Hospital, where he has been recuperating,” he said.

Mosiria added that the man has since shown great improvement and was recently discharged from the hospital. However, because he has no known family, he requested to be taken to the County Home for the Elderly for further support. Mosiria is now calling on anyone who may know him to come forward.

“If anyone knows this man or would like to help him, please reach out to me,” he appealed.

Mosiria’s rescue efforts

This comes shortly after another emotional appeal from Mosiria, where he asked the public to help trace the family of a Les Wanyika legend he also rescued from the streets.

The man, identified as William Peter Kinyonga, is a founding member of Simba wa Nyika, the band that later evolved into the iconic Les Wanyika.

Mosiria said Kinyonga was found in a desperate condition, prompting the county to intervene and offer him immediate help. Taking to his official social media accounts on Thursday, November 20, 2025, he revealed the difficult state the music icon had been living in before the rescue.

The latest case adds to Mosiria’s ongoing efforts to help vulnerable elderly individuals abandoned or stranded in Nairobi. He said the rescued man from the CBD is safe for now but needs identification so that he can either be reconnected with relatives or supported through the county’s elderly care programs.
