In a statement shared via the late DJ’s social media pages on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the family said the initiative is meant to honour Fullstop’s passion and legacy, ensuring that his contributions to Kenya’s reggae scene continue to inspire future generations.

“In honour of Mc Fullstop’s passion, we have decided to start a foundation under his name that seeks to raise awareness on drug and substance abuse as well as support upcoming reggae mc’s and DJs,” the family wrote.

The announcement came just days after Fullstop’s sombre funeral at Nairobi Chapel along Ngong Road on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Hundreds of fans, friends, and family gathered to pay their respects to the reggae legend, born John Maina, whose voice and energy defined an era in Kenya’s music scene.

His casket was placed near the altar as mourners filed past for a final glimpse, and a procession transported his body from Chiromo Funeral Home to the chapel before he was laid to rest at Lang’ata Cemetery later that day.

MC Fullstop’s health

MC Fullstop’s health had been deteriorating since 2021, when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis of the lungs, which led to the collapse of his left lung.

Despite these challenges, he made a courageous return to the airwaves in June 2023 and continued performing until his final show on K24 on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

He fell gravely ill on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and remained hospitalised until his passing on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 6:30 pm.
