MC Fullstop’s family appeals for financial support ahead of burial

The family of legendary reggae hype man and entertainer MC Fullstop, born John Maina, has appealed to the public for financial support as they prepare to lay him to rest.

In a heartfelt appeal shared on his official Instagram account on Sunday, August 3, 2025, the family expressed deep sorrow over his passing and asked for assistance to help cover funeral expenses and support his loved ones during this difficult time.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of our beloved MC Fullstop, also known as John Maina. A man who brought light, laughter, and unforgettable energy to everyone around him,” the appeal message reads.

“As we come together to honour and lay our beloved MC Fullstop to rest, we kindly ask for your support during this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the amount, is appreciated and will go directly toward funeral arrangements and family support.”

The family has set up one official Paybill number for contributions and urged the public to ignore any other fundraising accounts that may emerge.

“We have set up ONE official Paybill number for contributions. Please do NOT send money to any other number,” the MC Fullstop family added.

Plans for his burial are ongoing, and further details are expected to be shared by the family in due course.

Death

According to his family, the iconic entertainer died on Friday, August 1, 2025.

His death has left a noticeable void in the entertainment world. But even in mourning, his family remains grateful for the impact he had, describing him as a beloved icon and powerful voice in Kenya’s entertainment industry.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family of MC Fullstop, also known as John Maina, announce his passing on Friday, August 1st, 2025,” MC Fullstop’s family stated.

“MC Fullstop was a vibrant, powerful voice in the entertainment industry, a beloved MC, a Saturday staple on television, and a true champion of reggae and dancehall culture. His charisma, energy, and unmistakable voice lit up homes and hearts every weekend, and his presence on screen brought joy and unity to countless fans across the country and beyond.”

“To many, he was a legend. To us, he was Family, a kind, humble, and passionate man whose love for his craft was only matched by the love he had for his people.”

The family also thanked fans for the overwhelming support they had shown him throughout his career.

“To his loyal fans and viewers: thank you for the love you showed him throughout his journey. Your support meant the world to him, and we take comfort in knowing how deeply he was loved and appreciated,” they added.

MC Fullstop, known for his infectious energy and iconic presence on K24 TV every Saturday, where he hosted Riddim Vybz, was a staple in many households. His unmistakable voice and vibrant personality made him one of the most recognisable figures in the country’s music and media landscape.
