MC Fullstop’s family breaks silence with emotional tribute after his death
The family of MC Fullstop, also known as John Maina, has spoken publicly for the first time since his passing, describing him as a beloved icon and powerful voice in Kenya’s entertainment industry.
In an emotional statement shared on the late entertainer’s official Instagram account on Saturday, August 2, 2025, the family confirmed that MC Fullstop died on Friday, August 1.
The tribute, written with raw emotion and heartfelt gratitude, acknowledged his contributions to reggae and dancehall culture in Kenya and beyond.
“To many, he was a legend. To us, he was family, a kind, humble, and passionate man whose love for his craft was only matched by the love he had for his people,” the statement read in part.
MC Fullstop, known for his infectious energy and iconic presence on K24 TV every Saturday, where he hosted Riddim Vybz, was a staple in many households. His unmistakable voice and vibrant personality made him one of the most recognisable figures in the country’s music and media landscape.

The family also thanked fans for the overwhelming support they had shown him throughout his career.
“Your support meant the world to him, and we take comfort in knowing how deeply he was loved and appreciated.”
The Instagram post did not disclose the cause of his death but assured fans that details regarding the memorial and funeral arrangements would be shared in due course.
As tributes continue to pour in from artists, media personalities, and loyal reggae fans, many have echoed the family’s sentiments, remembering MC Fullstop as more than an entertainer. He was a symbol of unity, a cultural ambassador, and a friend to many.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the family concluded.
MC Fullstop’s death has left a noticeable void in the entertainment world. But even in mourning, his family remains grateful for the impact he had—and for the outpouring of love in his honour.
