KRG the Don denies his signature sign is Freemason’s

Kenyan dancehall artist Kimani Karuga alias KRG the Don, has dismissed claims that his signature hand sign is linked to Freemasonry.
Speaking in a phone interview with YouTuber Vincent Mboya, KRG said the hand gesture has a personal meaning and is not connected to any secret society. He noted that he and his friends and anyone in his circle greet each other with the sign to show their bond.
“The sign means something different to me. It is what I use with my geng. It means ‘geng geng’ – people from my circle. When I see them, I greet them like that. I started the sign before I even became famous or a musician,” he clarified.
KRG broke
This comes just weeks after the ‘Mambo Imechemka‘ hitmaker responded to rumours that he had gone broke, which some fans claimed was the reason for his silence on social media.
In an earlier interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Monday, April 7, 2025, KRG said the speculations were baseless. He explained that his time away from the public eye was a personal decision aimed at finding peace and recharging emotionally, especially due to his responsibilities as a father.
“For those who said he called me. That’s just talk. Me? I’m okay. I’m just busy with other things; those are their stories. There are many things in my world. I will reveal some things to the public, but don’t forget that I’m a father and there are many things I’m taking care of,” he said.
The singer stressed that his break was necessary and that he had found peace in staying offline. He also hinted that stepping back helped him realise how much he contributes to the Kenyan entertainment scene.
“I didn’t miss anything, and I’m peaceful being offline. The industry – I didn’t know I was carrying it alone, and people were saying it’s me they were waiting for. I was just pushing my energy. If they feel they don’t want to continue without me, I will come back and do some entertainment,” KRG said.
Adding;
“A few things will change, of course, when I come back, including my mode of business and music. Fans have been urging me to return. For now, things will heat up even more, and I will take them even further.”

KRG also asked fans to be patient, questioning whether they had already exhausted his previous releases.
“Those saying I’m not around, they can go and check out my songs on YouTube before I release new ones. Since you want me back on social media, I will come back,” he said.
He added that although he has not been posting, he has remained in touch with his friends and continues to create, just behind the scenes.
“My friends have access to me, and we link up – it’s only that we don’t record and post. I came to realise some of these artists depend on my energy. This time they should prepare, but if you haven’t been strong while I’ve been offline, it will be hard. Now I’m coming back with a bang, but with a different pattern. Not for a group of people,” he revealed.
