Kisii’s Marani Stadium turned into a scene of jubilation and colour during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations as controversial singer Christopher Mosioma, popularly known as Embarambamba, delivered an electrifying performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The event, led by Kisii Governor Simba Arati and County Commissioner Joseph Boen, drew thousands of residents who gathered to honour Kenya’s heroes while enjoying an afternoon filled with music, dance, and patriotic pride.

In a post shared on his Facebook page on Monday, October 20, 2025, Embarambamba, famous for his unconventional and acrobatic stage antics, is seen storming the podium dressed in his signature brightly coloured outfit, leaping and rolling with boundless energy that left spectators cheering and laughing in amazement.

He then moved to dance with Governor Arati at the podium, who joined in the excitement and swayed to the rhythm, matching Embarambamba’s energy with smooth and lively steps.

Governor Arati, who presided over the event, commended the artistes who graced the celebrations, noting that such creativity embodies the spirit of Kenya’s heroes who continue to inspire through talent and hard work.

“Our artistes remind us that heroism is not only found on the battlefield but also in creativity, resilience, and the power to unite people through art,” he said.

Ithookwe celebrations

Meanwhile, in Kitui County, the national Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Ithookwe Stadium heated up with pomp and splendour as thousands filled the venue to witness the main commemoration led by President William Ruto.

The ceremony was attended by top government officials, military officers, and visiting dignitaries, with the stands packed to capacity under the blazing Kitui sun.

The celebrations began with a grand military parade before traditional dancers from across the country took the stage to showcase vibrant cultural performances.

Kamba musician and dancer Ken Kijana, alias Ndeke ya Muthanga, became the highlight of the entertainment segment after performing his now-viral head-swirling dance that left the crowd cheering in disbelief.

Dressed in a black suit and joined by a troupe of dancers, Ndeke performed three of his most popular tracks, culminating in his latest release, Kisunguli, which saw the entire stadium erupt in applause.

Other performers included gospel artistes Stella Mengele, Stephen Kasolo, Bosco Mulwa, and Jay Lava Baibe, whose melodic performances added spiritual warmth to the national event. Their sets were followed by the lively appearance of gospel singer Dr Mbuvi, who joined Stella Mengele on stage to perform her timeless hit Siri ya Maisha, creating one of the most memorable moments of the day.

By mid-afternoon, the celebrations had reached a crescendo as the president addressed the nation, reminding Kenyans of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and calling on citizens to remain steadfast in building a united, prosperous, and peaceful nation.
