Car enthusiast and entrepreneur Khalif Kairo has stirred conversation with his latest advice to men, urging them to put themselves first before their wives and children.

According to him, life experience has shown that men who neglect their own growth and well-being often face depression, manipulation, and failure.

In a detailed post on Instagram on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Kairo said men should prioritise their own energy, health, finances, and spiritual wellbeing above all else.

“Life experience has taught me that you need to put yourself first as a man. Not your kids, not your wife. Prioritise yourself and guard your energy. The world is very cruel to men who fail or lose focus,” he stated.

Kairo’s remarks come at a time when conversations about masculinity, mental health, and family responsibilities continue to spark debate in Kenya. His perspective emphasises strength, discipline, and self-preservation as essential qualities for men navigating the pressures of modern society.

Strength and discipline

Expanding on his philosophy, Kairo stressed that men must embody leadership through provision, protection, and guidance — but that such leadership can only be exercised if a man is first strong, independent, and in control of his own life. He outlined steps he believes are crucial for men: working out, building financial stability, strengthening spiritual ties, and mastering self-discipline.

“As a man, stay very strong. Have a good relationship with God, work out, have your money in order, train yourself to be an alpha and disciplined, and tame your sexual desires,” he advised.

Kairo warned that weakness exposes men to manipulation and failure, saying, “Weak men are easily manipulated; weak men end up depressed; weak men do not survive.”

He also urged men to be decisive enough to walk away from toxic marriages, exploitative deals, or situations where they are manipulated in the name of children or financial dependence. To Kairo, decisiveness is central to leadership, and leadership is non-negotiable for a man.

While his remarks are bound to generate mixed reactions, Kairo has consistently positioned himself as a voice encouraging men to build resilience and independence. His message highlights the balance men must strike between caring for their families and ensuring they do not lose themselves in the process.
