Clout: Phoina comes clean on pregnancy reveal
Beauty mogul Phoina Tosha has set the record straight after weeks of speculation about her pregnancy.
Speaking on a local TV station on Friday, September 12, 2025, the entrepreneur said she is not pregnant but rather expectant in terms of success.

“I’m not pregnant, but I’m expectant. Being expectant can be anything. Ukizoom vizuri izo ultrasound, utaona ni kabuilding fulani ni kashule si mtoto, si mtoto,” Phoina explained with a smile.
She admitted that her recent social media stunt, which involved sharing ultrasound photos, was part of show business and a way to spark conversation around her brand.
“I’m not saying that every time you have to clout chase, but sometimes, you have to grab the attention of the people. I just wanted to get the people talking, this is big for me. Nimeona ata my friends, akina Bahati and Diana B wakifanya ivo, it’s show biz,” she said.
This comes only days after Phoina had shared a black-and-white video on Instagram on Sunday, August 31, 2025, suggesting she was expecting her first child. The clip featured ultrasound images and a man posing as her husband. In the post, she expressed excitement for what appeared to be a new chapter in her life.
“Coming soon 🥳🥳🥳 Ommema, you are always on time 🙏,” she captioned the video.
Phoina, who is the founder and chief executive of Phoina Beauty and Hair, has built one of Nairobi’s most recognisable beauty brands. She launched her first salon nearly a decade ago and has since grown her business into a household name. Her flagship outlet at Sebuleni Centre on Riara Road attracts a loyal base of clients for hair, nail and skincare services.
In 2022, she expanded her empire by unveiling her own line of makeup and skincare products at a colourful event in Nairobi. The products are now sold both in-store and online, reaching customers across Kenya and beyond.
Most recently, Phoina opened another outlet at Chaka Place, described as a modern beauty clinic offering a wider range of services.
