Carey Priscilla: No more crying after closure of my Nairobi CBD business

Content creator and makeup artist Carey Priscilla has broken her silence following the closure of her Nairobi CBD business, choosing to remain optimistic despite the setback.
In a statement on Instagram on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Carey revealed that while the experience initially left her heartbroken, she has now accepted the situation and is ready to rebuild.
“Sasa nimeacha kulia 😂. I’m still the same girl who started everything from scratch, so the bottom is a familiar place for me. Only now do I have more experience, and I have grown spiritually. So we meet at the 🔝,” she wrote.

This comes a day after she revealed the unexpected closure of her high-end spa located in Nairobi’s central business district, a project she had envisioned as both a business venture and a platform for social impact.
Closure
In a video on her TikTok on Monday, September 8, 2025, she revealed that the spa was established just two months ago with the intention of offering employment opportunities to college alumni, allowing them to gain work experience and grow professionally.
The project was also designed to generate funds that would be channelled towards sponsoring students who could not afford to pay their school fees.
Through this initiative, she said she had hoped to merge business with empowerment by ensuring the proceeds supported education and created sustainable livelihoods.
“For everyone asking what happened, two months ago, I decided to open a high-end spa in Nairobi CBD, where our college alumni could work and grow. It was our way of creating employment opportunities while also using the proceeds from the spa to sponsor students who would otherwise not afford fees,” she said.
Carey clarified that the spa was not shutting down because of financial challenges or mismanagement, stressing that the reasons behind the decision were completely different and not tied to money.

She noted that there are details she is not able to disclose at the moment, but she expressed confidence that one day she would be able to speak openly about what really happened. For now, she framed the closure as the beginning of a beautiful new story rather than the end of her vision.
“We are not closing because of financial struggles or mismanagement. It is something totally different. Maybe someday I will be able to talk about it again. But for now, we say goodbye. This is the beginning of a beautiful story, I believe,” she added.
Earlier, when informing her staff, Carey had announced that the spa would have to be closed with immediate effect.
The decision meant that all employees would lose their jobs, a reality she explained was not her wish.
She said she had tried her very best to sustain the project, but circumstances forced her to shut it down abruptly.
“Unfortunately, we have to vacate today with immediate effect. I tried my very best but it has come to this. I am so sorry. I let you down,” she said in a TikTok clip.
The closure was a deeply emotional moment for both Carey and her team.
She admitted feeling as though she had let them down and described the pain of watching her vision come to an end so soon after its launch.
Some of the employees broke down in tears during the announcement, and Carey herself could not hold back her emotions as she delivered the difficult news.
Despite the heartbreak, she explained that she was trusting God to carry her through the disappointment and believed that she and her team would eventually rise again.
“We are trusting God in all this. It hurts so bad. We know this is the beginning of a testimony; it is not the end of something. And we know we will rise back.”
