Media personality Anita Nderu has expressed her dissatisfaction with her annual electricity bill, urging Kenya Power to explain what she described as ‘unrealistic.’

Taking to X, she posted a snapshot of her electricity bill for the year, expressing shock and confusion over the sudden spike.

The mother of one called for an explanation for the apparent discrepancy noting that there has been no change in her consumption.

She noted that the bill was higher than the times they were home.

“This is our electricity bill for this year (Ksh383847). When I checked the bill this month I was shocked!!!! Please note nothing has changed in our consumption all year! The months that we aren’t even home, our bill is higher than the months we are. @KenyaPower_Care explain, please!!!” Anita wrote.

She further revealed that their monthly electricity expenses previously ranged between Ksh8,000 and Ksh9,000.

“For context, our bill used to be around Ksh8,000 to Ksh9,000 (per month),” she added.

This implies an annual electricity expenditure of less than Ksh100,000.

The utility company has not yet responded to the reported disparity.
