Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled to affect several areas across Nairobi, Kisii, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyeri, Kirinyanga, Laikiapia, Embu and Garissa counties on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
The utility company attributed this interruption to routine network maintenance.
In Nairobi County, the affected areas include Kasarani and parts of Waiyaki Way. Specifically, residents along ICIPE Road, AIC Kasarani, KISE, Bamboo Estate, Garden Estate, Mountain Mall, Blue Spring Hotel, Claret, Quiver, Homeland Tome Pole, School lane, Bank of Africa, Lions Place, Muguga Green, will experience the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Similarly, parts of State House Road, Part of Arboretum Drive, Riverside Drive, Riverside Gardens, UoN Chiromo Campus, Dusit D2, Chiromo Mortuary, Prime Bank, Part of Ring Road Westlands, Chiromo University Hostels, Royal Apartments, Kolobot Drive, Taj Apartments, Confucius Institute, Ring Road Kileleshwa, Delta Riverside, The Office Park, Mzima Springs Road, 9th Riverside, One Riverside Drive, International Organization for Migration, Keystone Park, Riverside Paddocks, Riverside Lane, Gem Suits, Strathmore School, Mundari Kindergarten, Part of Tende Drive, Millennium Apartmens, Riverside Mews, German Embassy, Uganda High Commission, Ibury Lounge, Riverside West Lane, Mamlaka Road, St Andrews Church, Part of University of Nairobi, YWCA., Alico House, Nairobi Water, Serena Hotel, Nairobi Primary, St Paul Chapel, Inside State House, UoN Residence Halls, State House Girls, UoN Staff Clinic, Radisson Blue Hotel and adjacent customers will also be affected during the same period.
In Kisii county, the blackout will impact the Nyamarambe area from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. Customers in Nyamarambe Town, Nduru Boys, Nduru Girls, Gesosnso, Nyakembene, Matangamano, Emesa, Nyabigena, Mochengo, Nyamarambe Level 4 Hospital and adjacent customers will be affected.
Meanwhile, the scheduled power blackout in Homa Bay county will affect the Kanyangasi and Magina areas from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Affected customers include Obera Boys, Kanyangasi, Magina Girls, Lwanda Kawuor and adjacent customers.
In Migori county, Kefri and Nyanchabo areas will experience a power outage from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm affecting residents around, Migori airstrip, Kefri, Nyanchabo, Masaba, Nyamamagagana, Kurutyange, Ikerege, Tarawiti, Koego, Nyametaburo, Nyamaranya, Karosi, Kehancha town, St Kizito, Maeta, Kegonga, Igena, Nyabikongori, Kebarisia, Mosweto, Nyamutiro, Kebaroti, Makararangwe, Ntimaru and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, customers around the Gikumbo market will be affected by the planned blackout from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, including residents of Karura market, Karura C/Factory, Karura Primary School, Eng. Maina, Gathumbi Village, Part of Unjiru Village, Ngari Junior Village, Ragati Primary School, Ragati Secondary School, Iharu Village, Kiandara Village, Gathambo TBC, Gaturumo-Ini TBC, Kiamigwi Village, Shauri Moyo, Kihuro Village, Gaikuyu market, Magutu Secondary School and adjacent customers.
Kirinyaga County areas of Kagio and Kandogu will experience power outage from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm including parts of Kagio Market, Kandongu Market, Part of Sagana Town, Rubis Petrol Station, Maya Hotel and Market, Blessed Almano Highcrest, Kinyaga and adjacent customers.
On the other hand, residents and customers in Laikipia county will experience power interruption from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. Areas affected include Chumvi, Doldol, Whole of Chumvi, Oltasha, Doldol Market, Olkinyei, Kiwanja Ndege, Illipollei, Kimanjo, Ol-Donyiro and adjacent customers.
According to Kenya Power, the scheduled 8.30 am to 4.30 pm power outage that will be experienced in Embu County will affect the whole of Runyenjes Town, Runyenjes Hospital, DC’s Office, Runyenjes Police Station, Moi Mbiruri School, Nthangaiya Mission, KCC Runyenjes, Kagaari Farmers, Kigaa C/Factory, Kianguchu C/Factory, Gikuuri Market, Ugweri Market, Ngeniari Market, Nduuri Market and adjacent customers.
On the other hand residents in Post Ena Market, St. Mary Immaculate, Kithunguthi Market, Gitararu Market Kawanjara Safaricom Booster and adjacent customers will experience power blackout from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
In Garissa County, the 9.00 am to 4.00 pm the scheduled power interruption will affect customers in Garissa Town, Provincial Héadquarters, Police Héadquarters, Governor’s Office, KBC, Madogo, Bangale and adjacent customers.
