Kenya Met issues weather forecast for next 5 days

Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has announced that residents living in 20 counties found in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will experience rainfall and isolated storms in the next five days.

According to the weather advisory from Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to Saturday, October 19, 2024, rainfall is expected in the morning over a few places, while afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places.

The listed counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet.

Others are Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties.

In the comprehensive five-day forecast report, the weatherman indicated that these regions will experience maximum temperatures that will hit 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be 10 degrees Celsius.

East of Rift Valley

According to the forecast report, the chances of rainfall in Nairobi and other counties within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley are minimal. Rainfall is expected in the afternoon only over a few places.

Kenya Met explains that the weather will be characterised by cloudy conditions before breaking into sunny intervals in most parts of the day for the next five days.

Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties are among the areas listed by the Kenya Met that will experience similar weather patterns as Nairobi.

The weather forecast report also indicated that North-western (Turkana and Samburu counties) and North-eastern (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties) will experience sunny conditions with a chance of showers over a few places.

South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties) as well as inland parts of Tana River County will experience cloudy, sunny intervals.

Coastal region: the counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale In the five days, set to experience partly cloudy with sunny intervals.
