We love each other so much: Gachagua gushes over Reverend Dorcas at church service

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has gushed over his spouse, Reverend Dorcus Rigathi, praising her unwavering spiritual support and leadership even as criticism mounts against him from political opponents.

Speaking on Sunday, November 16, 2025, during a church service in Mbeere, Gachagua described Dorcus as a pillar of strength whose compassion and commitment to community service continue to bond their love and marriage.

“Good service by Reverend Dorcus.Hiyo sermon ametupatia hapa leo, ananipatia the same sermon every day. Unoana sisi tunapendana sana mpaka watu ya Kasongo wanatupigia kelele ati tunapendana zaidi,” he said.

Wakipiga kelele ndo hata tunapendana na kushikana zaidi.Kwa hivy I’m happy pia nyinyi mmesikia hiyo mahubiri ya kupendana.”

This comes amid criticism from a section of political leaders that Dorcus is controlling the Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party boss.

But in her rebuttal, Gachagua’s spouse said it was nearly impossible to undermine a man like Gachagua, who had stirred a political wave across the country.

She further clarified that the reason why the former Deputy President always allowed her to speak first during public events was because the two were one unit and there was nothing wrong with them moving together, which is why they often perpetuated family values wherever they went.

“That is why sometimes when he allows me to speak first is not because I heard I ‘sit on him’. How can you sit on a man like this, who is causing the whole nation not to sleep?” she quipped in July 2025 during a church service in the United States.

“A man whom the President, the Deputy President, and MPs hardly stop talking about. I keep hearing them say Wamunyoro. Is that the kind of man you think your claims could apply to? You are such liars,” she stated.

The former second lady added that no amount of public opinion about their relationship would deter her from loving her husband, praying for him, or supporting his vision for Kenya.

Her remarks came just days after National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah launched a personal attack against her during a public event, sparking widespread public outrage.

While continuing his usual criticism of Gachagua, Ichung’wah aimed Pastor Dorcas, suggesting that Gachagua might be experiencing marital trouble and was being dominated by his wife.
