Githunguri constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba on Saturday, December 21, 2024, gifted Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo defending Kenyan youth against police brutality in the wake of the anti-government protests that were witnessed in June and July 2024.
Wamuchomba in a statement shared via her official X account stated that she did not know Odhiambo well until they met in the struggles that followed the Gen Z protests.
The Rigathi Gachagua-allied lawmaker further revealed that she could call Odhiambo at night to defend youths against police brutality and she did it without much expectations.
“Some people are just amazingly talented and good hearted. I didn’t know her well till we met in the struggles after the Gen Z protests. I had to step up as a mother and do what was needed to assist young people in distress . Sometimes, I had to call this lady at night to stand in the gap to defend youths against police brutality and she did just that without much expectations,” Wamuchomba stated.
Wamuchomba lauds Odhiambo
She went ahead to laud Odhiambo for her actions, pointing out that her name will be forever be engraved when the history of the nation will be written.
Wamuchomba revealed that she had presented to Odhiambo some flowers and Christmas gift. She shared their photos in which she was pictured presenting a well wrapped gift to the LSK president, whose contents she didn’t reveal.
“When the History of this nation will be written her name will be forever be engraved and her name is Ms Faith Odhiambo the president of the Law society of Kenya . Today just presented to her some flowers of appreciation and Merry Xmass. Daughter of Kenya,” Wamuchomba said.

Faith Odhiambo awarded
Faith Odhiambo recently received the prestigious International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) Kenya Jurist of the Year Award.
The LSK president received the prestigious award at a star studded event that was graced by Norway’s ambassador to Kenya, Somalia and Seychelles, Gunnar Andreas Holm, among other notable jurist from the country.
In the citation leading to her recognition, the LSK President was hailed for her instrumental role in defending the rights of protesters during the nationwide anti-finance bill protests and securing the release of those arrested by providing pro-bono legal services.
“She offered pro bono legal assistance to hundreds of youth who were detained during peaceful demonstrations, safeguarding their constitutional rights to assemble and express themselves freely. Furthermore, she was instrumental in the establishment and advocacy of the Youth Legal Defense Fund, which was created to provide legal support and resources for young advocates in Kenya,” Frank Walukwe, the JOYA Committee Chairperson said.
