The University of Nairobi (UoN) on Monday announced that it has suspended with immediate the centre that runs self-sponsored programmes.

“That Statute XXXV, which statute establishes the centre for self-sponsored programmes (CESSP), is revoked with immediate effect,” said the statement issued by the UoN Council chairperson, Prof Julia Ojiambo.

Prof Ojiambo said that the CESSP staff will be re-deployed to the mainstream services of the University.

UoN Vice-Chancellor, Prof Isaac Mbeche told K24 Digital that all programmes are running as normal.

“CESSP was being run very well but wanted to stop the confusion of having two parallel programmes in one institution. The self-sponsored programmes will be run by the DVC in charge of finance, planning and development,” said Prof Mbeche.

Prof Mbeche said that the parallel programmes have not been suspended as earlier reported in some media outlets.
