Alex Mathenge: I thought money was the way to make a girl happy, but I saw dust

Alex Mathenge has opened up about lessons he has learnt from his relationships with women in his life.
The content creator explained that he grew up in a family of boys and believed that giving women money was the best way to make them happy.
Mathenge said this belief later left him worse off over the years. He explained that he would invest in women with the intention of making them happy, only for the relationships to end.
“I don’t know how to put it, but naweza haribu sana, but in a nutshell I was born in a family of boys,” Alex Mathenge said on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The content creator explained that growing up around boys affected how he understood relationships with women. He said he believed that money was the way to make a woman happy, but his experiences later taught him a different lesson.
“So I thought the only way to make a girl happy is to invest in her, to make her happy through money na hapo ndio nimepitia dust,” Mathenge said.
He said that his efforts did not always lead to the outcome he expected. Mathenge explained that he would spend money trying to make a woman happy, only for them to leave afterwards.
Lessons from relationships
Mathenge said he now looks back at the years he spent in such situations and feels that they affected him negatively. He explained that the experiences with women in his life contributed to him being in a worse position than he could have been.

The singer said he did not want to go into details about the women he was referring to. He explained that he believes he would have been in a different position if he had been more careful in his decisions.

Mathenge also spoke about his decision to leave social media. He made it clear that the women he was referring to are not people he was talking about online. Instead, he said they are women who have been part of his life.
“Those women are not on social media, it is the women in my life. Sitaki niongele hiyo issue sana,” Mathenge said.
He added that his experiences with women and his decision to leave social media were separate matters. Mathenge said he did not want to say too much about the relationships but acknowledged that they had affected him.
